FITNESS SURVIVOR - Week #1

This has been a ROCKIN week! Both teams should really be giving themselves a pat on the back :) Every last one of us has worked incredibibly hard because this IS a hard challenge! It’s definitely NOT the kind of challenge for slackers :). In fact….I’ve designed it so you can’t. I’ve used this challenge with my clients at home (a little different because this is the net) and it’s proven to be REALLY motivating. The girls here are working so hard…I’m really excited to see the results at the end of the month!

 Today was the end of the first week. Team #1 (BuddyBabes) finished the week with a -9.5Lbs weight loss and -17″ loss! Way to go!!! Unfortunately…as will happen every week….someone will be up for elimination :( So far (still waiting for one to weigh in) that person is Stacey from BuddyBabes :(. Stacey’s the founder of our team name! Doesn’t she rock? ;)

The first week….we got awarded +4 points for every recipe we added. People went crazy! We have over 30 pages of recipes :eek: ! If anyone is interested…they’re located under “Food” in the forum and is called “Fitness Survivor Recipes”. There’s TONS of awsome recipes there!!! This week….I’ve decided to tone it down a bit with a 2 recipe minimum at +5 points. Contestants will get extra points for every 20 minutes of exercise instead :).

I’m currently trying to make badges for the contestants to post on thier profiles. One for having the highest % of weight loss, one for the most inches lost, one for the SOUL FITNESS SURVIVOR etc etc. I am having trouble with this because I’m on dial up. If anyone can offer some help…I’d be very grateful! :D

Sick Puppy ;(

Last night my 5 month old puppy wasn’t interested in dinner :( Then…he started puking up stomach bile. Today…he has diarehia that come out like pee! (sorry…I know that’s grose). I’ve been giving him water with a saringe to make sure he stays hydrated. He was playing around with the kids like normal this morning but still not really himself. I can’t get into the vet untill 4:30 today and then I’m not sure if I can even make it there in time because of my son getting off the bus from school. It’s times like these I wish my hubby didn’t work in Alberta. If he was home…I could have got into the vet at 11am (I’m waiting for a dryer to be delivered because ours broke down the other day). I really hope he’s going to be ok…I couldn’t handle putting another down :(. We put our other dog down around Valentines Day because he got into something…got sick…then ended up paralized from the waist down. It was awful! Pray for my puppy please!!

Turning Heads :o

While I was out walking today….I guy drove past me and almost drove off the road because he literally turned his head to get a second look..LOL! I couldn’t believe it! And he wasn’t old either ;) My best friend and I always say that if an old guy looks at you and you’re young…it doesn’t count :D. Not only was he not old be he looked like he may of been in his late 20’s. I’m 34 (going to be 35 in November) so that made me feel pretty good. I know it’s trivial but….it motivated me! I believe it’s important for a woman to feel desired….I mean….c’mon…if we didn’t want to feel or be desirable we wouldn’t be here trying to lose weight right? We want to look good for ourselves AND our hubby’s :)

Wouldn’t it be Wonderful……………..

Imagine if you could go to bed and decide who you wanted to look like the next morning and it would just happen? I’m sure we’ve all wished we had some celebrity’s body or….you wished you looked like your friend because she’s 20lbs lighter. If only we could say….”tomorrow I want to look like Jennifer Annisten” and bingo….you wake up thin and beautiful! So you go about your day doing things you’d never dream of doing right now. Like putting on a skimpy bathing suit and going to a public pool :D . You’d feel confident though because you’d have the body of your choice!

Then…..the next night you go to bed and choose to be someone different. If you could choose who you’d look like…who would it be and what would you do for the day with your new sexy body??

Woo Hoo!!

Well….I put on a pair of pants the other day that I could BARELY squeeze into last fall. They’re a size 9/10. This time….I put my feet into them with anticipation. Wondering to myself…”Are these going to make it over my hips?” To my wonderment…they not only made over my hips but are actually a bit lose! They have now become my favorite pair of pant ;) . It’s land marks like that that really keep your eye on the big picture :) Great motivation!!!!!

Heart Ache Will Do It Every Time

My hubby was home from working on the oil rigs for 5 days. It was awsome! It’s really true what they say,,,,”Absence makes the heart fonder”.  Well, today I had to see him back off to Alberta :( . As we stood in the airport and hugged each other, my heart broke. I could feel the warmth from his body holding me close and his tears against my cheek. Everyone keeps telling me…”It will get easier”. How? Chris and I are soul mates….we look to each other for everything. When he’s gone…I just feel empty. That feeling does deminish after a couple days but it’s definitely NOT getting any easier.

Diet wise…..when he does come home everything seems to go out the window :( . I mean….I really try to make healthy choices when he wants to go out for a nice romantic dinner but c’mon! What’s romantic about that!? Anyway….things will get back on track for me while he’s gone….at least for another 2 weeks anyway, until he’s home again. I guess I just need to stop thinking about his time home as a holiday. It’s hard though because that’s the way he makes it feel :o . I could really use some extra prayers tonight……one for me….and one to keep him safe. Thanks for listening!

Circuit Training Workout I Teach

 This is for my Phoenix girls and anyone else that can benefit from it :D

This is a GREAT workout and can be challenging for any fitness level…..it all depends on the weight you use and what you do for cardio in-between sets. For cardio…you can do jumping jacks, skip, jog or simply march on the spot. The main idea is to keep moving. Circuit training gives you the benefits of cardio AND stregthening in one shot :) . It’s great if you don’t have a lot of time to workout. I didn’t get a chance to search the net for links to exercise descriptions but you should search it so you are doing proper form. It’s really important when it comes to lunges and squats. You don’t want to hurt your knees! If you are unsure of the form for any of these exercises and can’t find it on the net…just ask me and I’ll do my best to explain it to you :D .  Lets get strong people!!!! :D

Warm up - 3-5 minutes

- Do the circuit once at a LOW intensity with no weights to warm up your muscles and gradually prepare your body for the hard work your about to do. After that….add 3-5lb weights for the next 2-3 rounds.

Stretch - about 3 minutes (Hold each stretch for about 15 sec)

Biceps/Chest Stretch

Triceps Stretch

Shoulder/Stretch

Quad Stretch

Calf Stretch

Workout

Backward Lunge with a Lateral Arm Raise - 12-15 reps per leg

Cardio for 30 sec

Skater Squats - 12-15 reps per leg

Cardio for 30 sec

Modified Pushups - 12-15 reps

Cardio for 30 sec

Squats with a hammer curl/triceps extension - 12-15 reps (do hammer curl as you come up and tricep extension as you squat)

Cardio for 30 sec

Stationary lunge with over head arm press - 12-15 reps

Cardio for 30 sec

Upper Back Rows - 12-15 reps

Cardio for 30 sec

REPEAT EACH EXERCISE - 2-3X

Cool Down - 3-5 Minutes

Back In Business

Hi All! As some of you know…My computer was down for a couple days due to an electrical mishap in the house. We finally got our new computer and are back in business ;). Not being on here for a couple days did play havik on my diet though :( . I’m back on track as of today and ready kick this thing! Thanks to my Phoenix sisters for keeping the group going for me while I was away :) :) . It’s good to be back!
