***CARBS - When To Eat Them, What To Eat Them With, How to MAXIMIZE Weight Loss!***

Carbs have REALLY gotten a bad reputation in the last few years…….well….more then a few ;) Ever since that Atkins diet came out. Anyway….here’s some info to help clear up some questions about Carbs!

Are carbs going to make you fat? NO!!! Choose “natural” carbs such as brown rice, wholegrain breads, potatoes (yes you heard that right) potatoes! Potatoes are NATURAL……..Fruits, veggies, etc.. Try to avoid carbs that are processed such as white pasta, white breads etc..

When we eat and which carbs we eat at different times of the day is also very important! Choose your starchy carbs such as rice, breads, potatoes etc early in the day. As the day approaches an end…choose vegetables and fruits as your carbs. So…for breakfast you might have oatmeal with fruit and a source of protein……at dinner, choose a salad or raw veggies w/dip and a source of protein. If you’re eating 5 small meals a day (as you should). Your first 2 meals should include your starchy carb and the last 3 a carb with lots of fiber such as veggies or fruit.

Eating a balanced meal EVERY meal is VERY important. You should always choose a carb AND a protein. A meal with carbs alone raises your glucose levels FAST which in turn causes you to crash and burn. It doesn’t matter if that carb is vegetable or bread…the end result will be the same. It’ll leave you feeling hungry and weak and gives your body the chance to convert that meal into fat.  When you add a protein, you’ll feel fuller longer, glucose levels will be more consistent, and your metabolism will work more efficiently. Carbs are digested much faster then protein. When you combine them…protein slows down the digestion of carbs so the energy you get from those carbs is released at a slower rate. End result….more energy for you to burn MORE fat and calories! :D

So…add some chicken or cheese to that salad, have a yogurt with your apple, don’t be shy…brown rice won’t bite! Just remember…timing and balance ;) God never intended us to cut things from our diets….he put all that natural food here to eat because our body needs it!

Have a good day everyone!

DON’T LOSE SIGHT OF YOUR RESOLUTION!

If you’re losing sight of your resolution……GET SOME GLASSES! Something that will help you see the bigger picture more clearly. Do you want to be here next January plugging in the SAME New Years Resolution? Or are you going to make it happen this year!?

We’re approaching the end of January and I know some have lost steam. You need to keep your head up and keep working at it! I’m sure you’ve fallen…we ALL HAVE. That doesn’t mean it’s ok to give up. Get refocused, get re-motivated, think about why you made that resolution to begin with. Visualize yourself doing what needs to be done….visualize you as a healthier thinner you in a year…..visualize how that will change you life!

We’re all in this together……..GET MOTIVATED! Get back on that wagon or pull your feet up under you so you don’t fall off and lets get down to business ;)

Put Me In a STRAIGHT JACKET and Send Me on My WAY!!!!!

Seriously….ever since I had kids my PMS is through the freakin roof!!! HELP!!!!! Today has been one of my “worse” days :(. I woke up and felt like I was eithier getting sick…or TOM. It was like that queezy feeling mixed with crazy mood swings and a whole lot of unpleasantness. BECAUSE I feel this way I have NOT counted my calories…..I have NOT exercised……and I have NOT felt good in general :(. I HATE THIS!!! I feel like I should be strapped in a straight jacket and sent away until the full moon is gone.  Am I the only one that feels this way?

Because of this…I’m worried what the outcome of my Sat weigh in will be. It seems with my weight loss where it is….if I’m not TOTALLY 100% dedicated…..I don’t see results.  I NEED to see those results! Ok…I’m going to go gather my thoughts before you all think I’ve totally lost it and call the authorities…haha…hehe…LOL!!!! ;) Thanks for listening buddies ;)

Evangelist TipAs a Personal Trainer…here’s a little tip from me to you :D

Do you lead a busy week? Have trouble fitting in time for meals? Dedicate ONE day out of the week and pre-make healthy “TV” dinners and toss them in the freezer! If it’s already made, measured to your portions, and all you need to do is heat….wouldn’t you be more likely to stick to your eating plan? ;) You could get together with a girlfriend and cook together…it would be much more fun and the time will fly by.

Keep looking forward everyone! Work towards your victory….keep logging into buddy slim to get and give support….But most of all, keep celebrating your successes and leave the past where it belongs ;) Michelle

As Suspected :D - Tip For Those Not Losing Weight

Last week I worked out like a dog and ended up with a 1.4lbs gain. SO, I suspected my calories were too low. I hadn’t been diligently counting my calories. Call it Too busy, Or Too Lazy…probably a bit of both ;). Anyway…I took a day or so to see how I was eating. Sure enough…I was only consuming between 1000-1200 calories  This week I jumped back on the wagon and started counting EVERYTHING I put into my mouth and put my calories where they should be (an average of 1800-2000). I lost 1.1lbs this week ;) It doesn’t sound like much BUT…when you consider the fact that my TOM is due on Monday (just 2 days after weigh in)….that’s something to celebrate! I normally gain or maintain close to my TOM.

So…for those that are eating 1200 cals, exercising, and NOT losing weight? I’m posting this for you! Most of us have heard this so much it becomes a bit redundent but for those that don’t know….you need to eat to support your workouts! When you’re not eating your body becomes VERY efficient at how it burns energy. It will slow down your metabolism to conserve energy. If that’s not bad enough….your body will also canoblize and take from your muscle to get the energy it needs :(. This is VERY undesirable! For every 1lb of muscle, your body will burn an additional 50 calories a day just sitting on your butt. The more lean muscle tissue we have.,..the higher our metabolism. Don’t cheat yourself guys!!! EAT! Count your calories and exercise. You’ll have a higher success rate AND you’ll be more likely to keep the weight off once you’ve lost it ;).

**PROM At 35??**

This sounds weird doesn’t it?….LOL! Well…My hubby and I both never attended our Proms sooo…as incentive to reach my goal weight…we’ve decided to have our own little Prom once I reach 125lbs :D . We’re going to rent a dress and Tuxedo, rent a limo, and go out for a fancy celebration dinner. After that…we’re going to come home to our own little prom set up in our living room and dance the night away :D. I have 14.3lbs to go :D!!

**BUDDYSLIMMER OF THE WEEK**

Hey BuddySlimmers!! It`s that time again :D I need a BuddySlimmer of the week for the Monday Newsletter! Please comment here with your weekly weight loss and what you did for exercise this week OR you can message it to me :) If you`re the buddyslimmer of the week…your profile picture will be spotlighted in the Newsletter with a link to your profile. Thanks for your participation!!!!!

Do You Trust Me ? ;)

Hi everyone!!! Me again ;) I have a proposition for you :D For those that don’t know me on here…I guess I should start by telling you I am certified personal trainer with 10 years experience. Ok….so….do you need help? Do you need a “plan” to follow that will work? I’m going to offer to train a couple people for FREE right here on buddyslim. What do I want from you? First and formost…you MUST be 100% COMMITTED to not only me…but yourself! AND…you must be willing to give me permission to use your before/After pictures ;). Here are the guidlines….

*You can’t have ANY heart or serious health problems

*You must be willing to do what I say and trust me!

*You must be willing to count calories

*You must be willing to invest at least 6 days a week to exercise

*You must check in with me daily to hold yourself accountable

*You must be some-what self motivated. I can’t be there with you in person so…you have to be willing to push yourself.

What should know about me as a trainer? I will not put up with ANY crap! Especially if I’m training you for free ;) If you can’t abide by the guidelines then you need to let someone else take your place that’s willing to take advantage of this.  I am a compassionate person but being sweet doesn’t get results ;) I will do my best to push you to your limits (the best I can online :D).

Are you up to it? If you think you can committ yourself to ME and YOUR JOURNEY….either comment here or send me a message.

**This Is NOT Going To Stop Me!! Where There’s A Will…There’s A WAY!**

A couple years back…I ended up getting a tear in my medial collateral Ligament (knee injury). I went to the doctor already knowing what the problem was but needed a perscribed knee brace and pain killers. My Dr told me I’d be completely off exercise for 1-2 months! I was like……….

BUT…I knew he was right :(. Ever since that…I’ve had problems with my knee. Take note ladies!!!! WATCH your form when exercising and wear PROPER shoes while jogging/running or walking! Once you get a knee injury…you’ll ALWAYS have a knee injury. So…lastnight I was doing my second workout for the day…I squated back and went OUCH!! DAMN IT! I’m off my knee AGAIN for a few days and strapped into this unsightly knee brace. My first thought last night was…I’M GOING TO GO CRAZY if I can’t do what I love!

Then….I thought about it. I thought…why does this have to stop me?! I can still do my boxing for cardio AND I can still to upper body strengthening. My Knee can rest and I don’t need to sit on my a** while it’s healing! So…This Is NOT going to stop me!! If I have to…I’ll box all day long to burn those freakin calories!!!!!

Where There’s a Will…There’s a WAY!!!

Evangelist Tip

As a Personal Trainer…here’s a little tip from me to you :D

Adding weights to your walk? GREAT IDEA! You’ll burn more calories by adding resistance ;) Start by using 1-3lbs dumbells then add more when you’re comfortable. Avoid using ankle weights! When you use ankle weights for power walking or jogging…you increase the impact to your knees because there’s a harder impact when your foot hits the pavement. Stick with hand held dumbells and you’ll be fine :) Happy exercising all!!

Keep looking forward everyone! Work towards your victory….keep logging into buddy slim to get and give support….But most of all, keep celebrating your successes and leave the past where it belongs ;)
